about

“Galleass” is a project headed by Antonio Marzinotto, a musician who loves to experiment with a jazz approach blended with ethnic and avant-garde influences.
The approach remains aimed at improvising on a given theme, but the blends occur in the harmonic progressions and the rhythmic choices.
The participating musicians join the search for new territories, elusive as
these may be in 2022.
"Short Stories" (which follows on from "Mirror Labyrinth", the album with
which Galleass participated in the Nišville Jazz Festival in 2020) is an album designed with interplay and diversity in mind, with the intention of describing in turn different soundscapes, like the stages of a journey of a traveler who discovers new cultures from time to time that have little to do with one other, but from each of which an experience is acquired.
We go from deliberate homages with Methenian and Mediterranean sounds (Arcadia), passing through a boogaloo with an almost contrapuntal theme (Rice Cake, originally conceived for guitar and sax), arriving at a tango conceived with melodic lines in the style of Nino Rota (Rotango).
"Stutch" is dedicated to the opening theme of the television series Starsky and Hutch but subtly-influenced also by Weather Report's "Birdland."
“A Walk” - deliberately dreamy and suspended in the air - is the only ballad of the album.
The general tone of the compositions on this album is deliberately more lively and "groovy."
A lot of space was left for improvisation, with the awareness of mainly
following musical instinct, and with virtuosity measured according to the
piece.
The compositions are all original, by Marzinotto himself, supported by a superb band comprising:

Eric Ford on Drums
Miles Danso on Dbass
Bruno D`Ambra on Keys
